Voopoo VMATE i2 Review

Voopoo’s VMATE pod kits often feature simpler designs and functionality than other Voopoo kit ranges like the Argus and DRAG devices. And now, a new model has joined the VMATE line – the VMATE i2, which boasts a number of upgrades while remaining user-friendly. Here is our complete Voopoo VMATE i2 review.

Packaging and Labels

Photo showing the packaging and contents of the Voopoo VMATE i2

The Voopoo VMATE i2’s packaging resembles that of the other recently released Voopoo kits: a white cardboard box with the device’s image, name, and company logo.

One side of the box lists some features of the kit, such as power output and battery capacity, while the other side has a scratch-off authenticity hologram.

The back of the box lists the kit’s contents, along with some health warnings and contact information for Voopoo’s headquarters in Shenzhen.

Inside, you find a plastic insert holding the VMATE i2 kit in place, with a 0.7ohm VMATE Cartridge already fitted. A sticker on the base of the cartridge prevents electrical connection. The underside of the plastic insert holds the USB-C charging cable and a plastic packet containing the user manual for the device.

Build Quality

Score: 4/5

I found the VMATE i2 to be very comfortable to hold. Its unique rounded lozenge shape fits the palm perfectly, and the aluminium alloy used in its construction results in a very low weight of 55.5 g.

There’s a fairly attractive pattern of concentric lines across the device, which, at first glance, I assumed would be a groove for improved grip, but it’s just a bit of visual styling.

The kit has a large and easily reached airflow slider near the middle of one face. On the side, you’ll find a long and eye-catching LED strip that changes colour to reflect the kit’s battery charge.

The USB-C charging port is located at the base of the device. Don’t worry, though. There is rubber around it protects surfaces from scuffs and knocks.

As for the VMATE Cartridges, they are built from PCTG and are disposable with pre-fitted coils which utilise silver ions to prevent the buildup of foul-tasting bacteria and thus ensure long-lasting flavour output.

Voopoo goes as far as to boast each coil can last 30 days and atomize up to 90ml of e-liquid before the flavour begins to diminish.

All in all, the VMATE i2 has a simple construction, but its ease of use and coil quality earn it a solid 4 out of 5 from me.

Performance

Score: 4/5

The VMATE i2’s functionality is very simple. There are no confusing menus or modes to get lost in, or even power adjustments that could result in a burnt coil. But, it has an airflow slider control at the front so you can easily fine tune how tight or loose your draws are.

Ease of Use

Score: 5-5

The VMATE i2, much like previous VMATE kits, is very simple to use. It has a buttonless design and relies on draw activation when used. It doesn’t feature any wattage adjustment or mode switching. Refilling the pods is also very simple thanks to the side-hatch, which means you don’t even need to remove the pod from the kit to add new e-liquid to it. So, if you want a no-fuss device, the VMATE i2 is worth considering.

Battery Life

Score: 5-5

I may have been a bit harsh when rating the VMATE i2’s functionality, but the battery life is where it wins me back over.

Despite the low carry weight, Voopoo has somehow managed to fit a 1500mAh battery inside! That’s a 67% increase over the VMATE Infinity Edition’s 900mAh battery.

This is a fantastic element of the kit, particularly when many similarly sized vape devices only feature batteries with 800mAh or 1000mAh capacities.

In my week of using the VMATE i2, the battery was never an aspect that let me down, and keep in mind that I chain vape at my desk all day!

Flavour Output

Score: 4.5/5

The VMATE Cartridges continue to provide excellent flavour. Voopoo is still producing coils in accordance with their ‘icosm code’, which, among other things, adds a layer of silver ion to the coil surface. This prevents bacterial build-up, which is a common cause of bad flavour when vaping.

The result is coils and pods that can last, providing up to 30 days of use before needing a replacement.

Summary

A total beginner, apprehensive of complex functions and just desiring a no-stress device to help them quit smoking or disposables, will find the VMATE i2 wonderful to use, and that’s often the vaper who matters the most!

The MIST Favourite Feature

Battery Capacity: 1500mAh is nothing to frown about! It’s a remarkably large power cell in a surprisingly light device, and as a confirmed chain-vaper I can assure you that the VMATE i2’s battery won’t let you down.
