Ordinarily focused on MTL hardware, OXVA is spreading their wings to more varied kinds of vaping kits with the release of the VPRIME. The VPRIME is a different animal than their other OXVA pod kits because it is a sub-ohm device, and I’m in the lucky position to be reviewing this device!
I’ll put it through its paces and see whether it’s up to delivering portable sub-ohm puffs or whether OXVA should stick to what it knows. Here is our full, hands-on review of the OXVA VPRIME.
MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: The OXVA Vprime Pod Kit does a great job of providing sub-ohm puffs with great flavour to boot.
Review Disclosure: OXVA has supplied MIST with a non-TPD-compliant sample unit of their VPRIME kit for me to review. I have reviewed OXVA products many times, and they know that all my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own and cannot be influenced.

Packaging and Labels
My VPRIME Kit arrived in stylish black and gold packaging: a cardboard sleeve covering a larger cardboard box.
The device’s name is printed in gold at the top of the sleeve, with the company logo at the bottom. To the left, a clear plastic window reveals the kit within. The two sides of the sleeve list kit features and the ohmages of the pods are included, respectively. On the other hand, the back of the sleeve reveals a contents list, contact information, authenticity stickers, and a helpful blurb about the kit itself, which is quite a rarity!
Sliding off the sleeve, we encounter a helpful piece of card that explains what the buttons do, giving you a quick tutorial before you even put your hands on the device. Under the tutorial card, we find the device with a pre-fitted 0.2ohm pod on the left held within thick black foam.
To the right is a box of spares containing a 0.6ohm pod, a user manual, and your charging USB-C cable.
Build Quality
Score: 4 out of 5
While some kit versions use artificial leather, my sample unit is almost entirely made from zinc alloy. This gives it a reasonable carry weight, though, at 116g —a bit heavier than some other pod kits. The kit’s weight is likely due to the sizable 2600mAh battery stored within, which we’ll discuss later.
The device’s edges are round and comfortable in the hand, and the whole kit occasionally feels like a freshly unwrapped bar of soap in size and weight.
The kit’s face features a firing button above a very detailed 0.96″ colour display screen. When the kit is used, a power indication light shines beneath the screen.
One side of the kit features a small airflow adjustment slider, whereas the other features up and down buttons for changing the power settings.
The bottom of the kit is pleasantly flat, allowing me to stand it upright. It also features a charging port for the included USB-C cable. The back of the kit is featureless.
The VPRIME Pod is chunky and wide, with pre-installed coils built according to OXVA’s new Unitech 2.0 technology. This technology optimises the construction of the heating mesh and adds new layers of leak protection to the pod.
The mouthpiece is very comfortable, and the pod can be refilled through a side hatch that you can open without removing it from the device.
Performance
Score: 4 out of 5
The VPRIME is very pleasant to use! The auto-draw function and the button-firing method are equally satisfying, with no noticeable pause between pressing the button and receiving your vapour. As a sub-ohm kit, the VPRIME can provide an output max of 60W.
While a little restrictive regarding setting placement, the airflow slider is easy to use and provides a different kind of inhale when turned all the way.
The mouthpiece also feels very gentle on the lip, which might sound strange, but it can make all the difference if the device doesn’t ‘dock’ well with your face!
Despite the glorious packaging, the VPRIME is quite a simple device, with no wild functions or user modes to confuse (or excite). Easy, ready-to-go sub-ohm puffs from a highly portable piece of streamlined vaping hardware.
One fun little touch that may deserve mention is the theme selection, which OXVA is drawn to when given access to a hi-def screen! By entering the device menu, you can select one of three animations that occur while you vape.
You can choose from a simple OXVA logo theme, a little spaceman who flies while you puff, or a rocket that takes off while the device is firing. It’s all a bit pointless, but it’s nice to see OXVA putting their creative stamp on a kit. It suggests a bit of fondness from the creator, which is always good to see.
Ease of Use
Score: 5 out of 5
The little card explaining different button functions might make the device complex, but the VPRIME is very easy to use, so a beginner wouldn’t have trouble mastering it in a few minutes.
There are no weird modes to get lost in, just simple wattage-based power outputs and great flavour.
Changing the device’s light system or switching out the theme has little functionality, but you could use this device for a solid year without even touching those features, and there would be no significant loss.
Moreover, using disposable pods with pre-installed coils removes the worry of messy coil fitting off your hands, adding to the device’s convenience.
Battery Life
Score: 4.5 out of 5
Here’s where OXVA justifies that slightly heavier build! The VPRIME contains an 2600mAh internal battery. That’s a pretty high power capacity, and it makes the 60W maximum output something you can enjoy for extended sessions!
The device lasted me a couple of days without charging, and keep in mind that as someone who can vape at their desk, I’ve been putting it through some long and intense sessions!
Despite this, the kit hasn’t let me down in terms of charge, and the 2A-rated charge speeds mean it’ll never be out of your hands for long.
Flavour Output
Score: 4 out of 5
I’ve been using an iced pineapple e-liquid from a brand that shall remain nameless in this review, and the flavour has been exceptionally clear for the whole week. I wondered what OXVA’s touted Unitech 2.0 coil designs would do for me, and the answer is thick clouds laden with flavour!
The improved dimension of the coils provides a wider surfaced heating area, resulting in more significant cloud production and even atomisation from the wicks. Old juice getting caught in your wicks is a common cause of lousy vape flavour, so the VPRIME heads this issue off at the pass to significant effect.
Summary
The OXVA Vprime Pod Kit does a great job of providing sub-ohm puffs with great flavour to boot. Yes, the build is slightly too heavy, but the shape is very comfortable, and you get a solid vape and a large battery. Plus, the simple functionality will be well received by most users.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
- Unitech 2.0: The flavour from the pods is exceptionally clear and rich, and it’s clear that OXVA have stumbled onto something brilliant with their Unitech 2.0 coil designs.
