Features We Love

Master of All

One of the best mods for any and all vaping styles

Massive mAh

Gigantic 3500mAh for good battery life

Smooth Operator

Rounded edges and leatherette panel for maximum comfort

Eleaf, while a successful vape manufacturer, often don’t get the same amount of attention as companies like Voopoo, Geekvape and Innokin. Nonetheless, their box mod production is second to none, and the iStick Power Mono Mod is a dark horse champion.

The iStick Power Mono isn’t initially too eye-catching, despite the classy pleather panel encasing the ergonomic smooth edges of the build. But within that unassuming box mod rests a stunning 3500mAh battery, one of the largest you can find in a regulated vape mod.

I’ve also surprised many onlookers by emitting huge clouds by way of the 80W maximum output, which people are not expecting when they get a look at the understated design of the mod.

This range of power output and vast bank of battery capacity makes the iStick Power Mono mod the perfect choice for almost all vaping styles; mouth-to-lung and direct-to-lung tanks are all compatible with the 510 thread connection. And with that much battery, I’ve enjoyed days of session sub-ohm use without needing to charge my mod.

That kind of longevity and user-friendly design makes the Eleaf iStick Power Mono Mod the best budget box mod, coming in at less than £40 for one of the largest internal batteries I’ve ever encountered.

Pros

  • One of the best cheap vape mods for all uses
  • Vast bank of internal power
  • Comfortable and travel-friendly design

Cons

  • Lack of TC mode
  • Could use a larger screen

Features We Love

Cloud Kicker: 200W high wattage output from a dual battery device
DIY Ready: Loaded with TC mode options for all coil materials
Affordable Alternative: Cheaper version of the T200 mod

You shouldn’t have to compromise your cloud-chasing dreams just because you’re browsing the best cheap vape mods. Geekvape’s Z200 Mod is a budget-priced version of the T200 that boasts the same sky-high wattage limit and user modes.

The Z200 allows you to manually set the wattage as high as 200W, one of the highest outputs possible with a regulated vape mod and more than enough power for excessive cloud puffing.
But simple manual adjustment isn’t all you get with the Z200. You will also get Bypass mode and Temperature Control, which are suited for those who like to use RDAs and RDTAs.

I found the Z200 to be a great cheap vape mod for anyone seeking a dual battery mod. It lacks the IP68 protections, touch display screen, and USB-C charging port, but still provides the astronomically high outputs needed for competition-level cloud production. Great to see such a reliable mod, even amidst their recent pod system releases.

Pros

  • Massive 200W outputs
  • TV and Bypass mode for RDA and RDTA use
  • High-definition colour display

Cons

  • Lacks damage protections of the T200
  • Slow charge speeds through micro-USB port

Features We Love

Power Bank: 5000mAh, the largest internal battery capacity known in vaping
Nice & Simple: Easy functionality with no superfluous features
Stylish Sub-Ohm: Attractive and comfortable hand panels

Most mods with internal batteries are unable to compete with mods that use external cells, but the Eleaf iStick Power 2 Mod smashes that stereotype to pieces with its massive 5000mAh capacity.

The iStick Power 2 retains a size dimension that you can still clutch comfortably – partly thanks to the soft paneling that seems to be an Eleaf design staple – with satisfyingly chunky buttons bordering the colour display screen.

I enjoyed several days of use from the iStick Power 2 at maximum power output, which isn’t surprising when you consider that the maximum wattage level is 80W. While still very comfortably in sub-ohm territory, it’s a slight shame that they didn’t think to provide greater outputs to take full advantage of that gigantic battery.

But if you’re looking for a moderate sub-ohm or chunky MTL mod that you can likely go the better part of a week without charging, then the Eleaf iStick Power 2 is one of the best affordable vape mods available.

Pros

  • Largest internal battery capacity available
  • Elegantly designed
  • Remarkably lightweight despite huge battery

Cons

  • 80W maximum doesn’t take full advantage of massive battery
  • No user-modes for those who prefer DIY coils

First Steps: Simple and easy to use beginner vaping mod
MTL FTW: Perfect for MTL and light RDL vaping
Goes A Long Way: 2600mAh internal battery lasts a long time at MTL outputs

Every vaper needs to start somewhere, and the Eleaf iStick i40 Mod is the perfect starting point.
A simple mouth-to-lung mod with a sizable 2600mAh battery within, you can enjoy MTL and even some moderate RDL use by exploring the 5W – 40W output range.

With all the mods featured today, I expected the iStick i40 to be fairly dull in comparison to some, yet I was surprised by how comfortable and responsive the device was. I was able to manually set the power with Wattage mode and also had the option to set power in voltage if I preferred, with no technical jargon or superfluous functions to distract me from simple puff pleasure.

The now-expected Eleaf grip panel makes a welcome return, with several bright and vibrant colours to choose from. Frankly, it’s a nice departure from the usually austere ‘black/grey/gunmetal’ colour choices usually offered by vaping mods.

While the Eleaf iStick i40 Mod won’t be transporting anyone to the cloud kingdom, it’s a cheap, stylish, and compact MTL mod that moderate puffers will love.

Pros

  • Perfect for MTL vaping
  • Easy for beginner vapers to quickly master
  • Use for several days without charging at MTL output levels

Cons

  • Some may find its colours garish
  • Very small display screen

FAQ

How Much Should a Vape Mod Cost?

A box mod will generally cost less than a full kit. You can expect to pay between £29 – £50 for a box mod. If you don’t currently have a vape tank, be sure to take the price of one into account, as your mod will be fairly useless to you without something to atomise e-liquid from.

If you’d rather have a ready-to-use vape kit but still within a budget-friendly price range, we suggest checking pod systems in our best cheap vapes. If you still need a tank, preferably for cloud-chasing, read our best sub-ohm tanks review.

How Do You Set up a Vape Mod?

Vape mods don’t require any advanced preparation or complex setups. Generally, for a vape mod with a built-in battery, you just need to put a tank (with an installed coil) on top and either set the appropriate wattage for your coil or allow any onboard Smart modes to automatically assign the right wattage outputs.

If your mod uses an external 18650 or 21700 battery (sold separately), you’ll need to charge the battery first and then open the battery door and insert it into the mod’s battery bay. For rebuildable tanks, you can either build your own coils or use a pre-built one.

Are Vape Mods Safer?

Vape mods sold by retailers in the UK and Europe all fall into the category of ‘regulated’ mods. This means they have various suites of power protection installed to prevent any kind of dramatic battery failure or power spikes.

If you are a vape beginner, be sure to avoid anything describing itself as a ‘mech mod,’ as it lacks any kind of power cutoffs or short-circuit protections.
