Canavape CBD Disposable Vape Review

Canavape is one of the OG CBD vape juice manufacturers, having begun operations and trading back in 2014. Today, Canavape is at the forefront of legal cannabinoid research and products.

I’m going to be taking a closer look at their full-spectrum disposable vape pen and determine whether or not it provides an easier means for CBD users and the CBD-curious to vape CBD.

Review Summary: The Canavape Disposable Vape Pen is possibly the most satisfying CBD disposable I’ve ever tried.

Review Disclosure: Canavape has supplied MIST with disposable pens in exchange for this review. However, my thoughts and opinions on the following products are impartial.

Packaging and Labels

The Canavape Disposable Vape Pen arrives in a cardboard box with a white header and black footer, bookending a colour in the middle that indicates the flavour within.

The top of the box shows the Canavape logo and the flavour of the unit, with specs like cannabinoid contents, size of dosage, and intended effect printed below (De-Stress & Relax for Grandaddy Purple, Harmony & Balance for Pineapple Express, etc).

The left side of the box lists features such as draw activation and rechargeability, while the right side lists aspects such as the Full-Spectrum contents and promises of a product free from solvents, heavy metals, and pesticides.

The back of the box goes into slightly more detail about the respective ‘flavour,’ over an authenticity QR code and an ingredients list.

Within the box, the disposable pen rests within a sealed plastic wrap you have to tear open. Inside this you’ll find the pen, with a rubber stopper placed into the mouthpiece to ensure no accidental firings while the product is on the store shelves.

Build Quality

Score: 4/5

While Canavape’s company expertise lies in the production of high-quality CBD e-liquids, they were smart enough to partner up with CCELL to use their SIMA model of disposable vape pens.

Full disclosure: I’ve reviewed a *lot* of CBD disposables, and the Canavape model is without question one of the best-made units I’ve experienced.

The plastic build has a sturdy feel in the hand, with no cheap plastic ‘creekiness’ that you often experience with CBD disposables. The cylinder has a lovet matted grain to the touch, which is both comforting beneath the fingers and capable of providing a secure grip.

A small window sits in the middle of the pen to show you the cannabinoid solution around the internal coil. Beneath this window, you’ll see a power-indicating LED light and the micro-USB charging port is on the base of the kit.

The mouthpiece up top is tapered for comfort and made of glossier plastic than the rest of the kit.

So far, we’ve discussed the physical design of the device, but I think it’s important to make mention of the actual cannabinoids within the pen.

Despite what it may look like, the liquid within the Canavape pen is NOT traditional vape juice. It contains no dilutants or wax liquidisers that can cause some vapers irritation and discomfort, and it measures as 1 gram of material rather than the millilitres ordinarily used to measure e-liquid.

The cannabinoid tincture is made up of both CBD (cannabidiol) and CBG (cannabigerol), both of which are praised for their anti-inflammatory effects as they go to work on the body’s CB1 and CB2 receptors, which primarily deal with inflammation. A multitude of cannabinoids can also lead to the ‘entourage effect,’ wherein the cannabinoids work together for a more rounded, robust effect.

This entourage effect is also promoted by the use of full-spectrum extraction rather than CBD isolates. Full spectrum takes everything legally permissible from the mother plant, ensuring the strongest possible effect and usually resulting in a deep, earthy, and botanical flavour. The total full-spectrum dose of each pen is 750mg, meaning that 75% of the 1 gram contents are active cannabinoids.

Performance

Score: 4.5/5

The Canavape pen is entirely draw-activated, so there are no buttons to press. One nice aspect of this is that it removes the chance of a pocket fire caused by the ignition button pressing against your leg or phone.

The atomisation process is very quick and immediate, with authentic cannabis flavour entering your mouth the moment you begin inhaling. While there isn’t any airflow adjustment,  the draw is comfortable and relatively tight, similar to a traditional cigarette.

And one of the best things about vaping CBD and CBG as opposed to eating it or taking it as a supplement, is that it enters your bloodstream immediately, so you can instantly begin to feel the relaxing waves move over you the moment you exhale.

Without wishing to incriminate myself, I can speak from personal experience that it’s a VERY accurate simulation of the cannabis smoking experience, but without any of the mental agitation or discomfort that arises from smoking ordinary cannabis.

Ease of Use

Score: 5/5

The Canavape disposable pen is extremely easy to use. I’m confident in saying that a person who had never vaped or even smoked before would have no difficulty whatsoever in using the device.

Partly this comes from the aforementioned draw-activation, but another aspect is the simple operation of the device. There are no power settings to concern yourself with, no airflow adjuster to get perfectly set, no cleaning, refilling, coil changes, or any of the other frustrations that often stand as part of the overall vaping experience.

Instead it’s a simple puffable pen, one which requires zero maintenance beyond recharging, something you may not even have to do if you end up quickly puffing through your gram of cannabinoids.

Battery Life

Score: 4/5

Aiden from MIST showing the charging base of the Canavape CBD disposable vape

The Canavape disposable pen only has a 300mAh battery, which is a bit small. But it’s very much in the ballpark of what you’d expect to find in a disposable vape and should provide you with enough power to get through the full 1-gram contents of the disposable.

And in the event, you aren’t able to atomise all your cannabinoids before the battery runs out, Canavape saw fit to include a recharging port, meaning you can get every drop of juice that you paid for.

It’s worth noting that the pen doesn’t come with a charger, and keep in mind it’s micro-USB, not USB-C, but chances are you’ll have one or two of those lying around.

Flavour

Score: 5/5

This is one of the standout features of the Canavape pen. Being sourced from full-spectrum extraction, the liquid that Canavape uses is flavoured with the natural terpenes of the cannabis plant, and each unit has a slightly different authentic taste.

Granddaddy Purple

A staple of California cannabis cultivation, Granddaddy Purple was initially created as a cross between the Mendo Purps, Skunk, and Afghanistan strains of Indica cannabis. The flavour is slightly perfumed, with a hint of subtle berry behind the herbal profile.

Pineapple Express

Created as a crossing between the Trainwreck and Hawaiian strains of cannabis, Pineapple Express rose to great prominence in 2008 following the release of the eponymous stoner flick. The taste profile has a hint of heavy citrus behind earthy notes of pine.

Super Lemon Haze

Made by combining the Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze plants, Super Lemon Haze went on to become a two-time Cannabis Cup winner. The taste has strong notes of zesty fruit, with a smoky backnote that rasps the throat in a satisfying way.

Blue Skittlez

A relatively recent strain made through combinations of the Blue Diamond and Skittlez strains, it carries a deeply fruity and sugary profile, with a much sweeter aroma than most other strains. While it might carry a herbal taste, this particular flavour is less likely to turn heads when used in public.

Wild Mint

This one’s a little different. It still contains herbal-tasting cannabis terpenes, but they seem to have added some natural mint flavour as well. It lends a cooling note to the botanical flavour and has an invigorating edge that stirs the senses when you puff.

Canavape CBD Vape Cartridges

We’re also excited about the upcoming release of Canavape’s disposable CBD cartridges, a kind of stepping stone between disposable pens and refillable lits. The cartridges are fitted with 510 threads which can screw into 99% of traditional vape mods and batteries.

Loaded with 400mg of full-spectrum CBD in 0.5ml cartridges, they provide terpene options like Blue Cheese and Grandaddy Purple alongside stealthier options like Blueberry and Orange Creamsicle.

Summary

The Canavape Disposable Vape Pen is possibly the most satisfying CBD disposable I’ve ever tried. You get a real sense of Canavape’s expertise in CBD cultivation, unlike some other CBD vape brands that feel more like a quick cash-in.

I think that anyone interested in the effects of CBD and CBG should definitely give these pens a try. While ultimately it’s best to move onto a more value-focussed refillable situation, the Canavape pens give you a full trial run of the CBD vaping experience before you take the plunge on a kit and some CBD juice.

The MIST Favourite Feature

Rechargeable: It’s rare to encounter a disposable vape that allows you to recharge it, and it’s a godsend in this device in the rare instance of the battery dying before you’ve been able to atomise all the liquid within.
