When Innokin released the Trine kit earlier this year, it made headlines because it features a removable battery (yes, a pod vape with a removable battery!). Now, Innokin is continuing the Trine legacy by introducing the newest device in the range—the Trine Q.
I’ve spent this week getting to grips with the Trine Q to see whether this recent line of Innokin vapes represents innovations in pod vape design or whether it’s leaning too hard on a gimmick.
MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: The Trine Q Kit is an excellent vape for people tired of constantly recharging their devices. The battery swap-out feature is brilliant, the flavour from the QCAP Pods is mouthwatering and the single button design is very user-friendly.
Review Disclosure: Innokin provided MIST with the Trine Q in exchange for a review. The brand did not, in any way, influence our review.

Packaging and Labels
The Trine Q arrives in a box covered by a cardboard sleeve. The front of the sleeve shows the kit name and photo, company logo, and a small diagram drawing attention to the removable power supply. There’s also a TPD-compliant health warning.
One side of the sleeve shows the three components of the kit (pod, device, battery), while the other side lists kit features such as a 20W max power output and optional filter tips for the pod.
The back of the sleeve shows the contents list for the kit, as well as contact information for Innokin, an authenticity hologram, and another TPD health warning.
Sliding off the sleeve, we see the kit held in place in thick white foam. Beneath the foam insert is the spare QCAP pod, a user manual, a charging cable, and a packet of five disposable filter tips for the pod. The acrylic tip is already fitted in the pod.
Build Quality
Score: 4 out of 5
The Trine Q is quite comfortable to hold – the cylinder has a brushed steel feel to it. Plus, it only weighs around 49g due to the lightweight aluminium alloy construction. However, aluminium alloy isn’t super durable, so don’t drop it into a quarry anytime soon. The singular button on the device has a nice click to it, and it’s not too raised, so it shouldn’t activate in your pocket frequently.
The QCAP Pods have a great design, with a refill port on the front that slots into a divot cut into the steel of the device. This means you can refill the port without having to remove the pod. One odd aspect of the pod is that you have to remove it from the device in order to change the airflow settings, which are on the base of the pod.
The disposable filter tips are very well made and feel just like a cigarette filter when they’re on your lips.
At the base of the device, we can see two pressable panels on either side. Pressing these and pulling removes the battery unit.
Performance
Score: 3.5 out of 5
The Trine Q has a very responsive firing speed when the sole button is pressed. The kit is surprisingly simple in its functionality, with no extra modes, power adjustment, or even draw-activation. But the very streamlined design of the kit might bore more experienced vapers who prefer to customise their vaping experience.
Ease of Use
Score: 5 out of 5
The simple design results in a kit that beginners will have no issue getting to grips with. There’s very little that can go wrong when using the Trine Q, as there are no confusing menus to get lost in or adjustable power to accidentally set too high for your chosen pod.
With just one button to press and only one function from the button, the Trine Q is effectively idiot-proof.
Battery Life
Score: 5 out of 5
Of course, this is the best thing about the Trine Q and other devices in the Trine range. The Trine Q comes with a battery fitted that has a capacity of 1050mAh, which is generally enough to get most vapers through a solid day of inhales.
But in the event that your battery runs out of charge and you’re nowhere near a plug point, or even worse – your battery dies completely – you can now just swap it out with a new battery cell!
Flavour Output
Score: 4 out of 5
The QCAP Pods do a fine job of conveying rich and intense flavours when you vape. Internal meshes are used to provide a wider surface area within the coil, resulting in a more even distribution of heat and flavour production.
You can also add to the intensity of the pod flavour by tightening the airflow slider on the base, resulting in a more concentrated beam of flavour.
Summary
The Trine Q Kit is an excellent vape for people tired of constantly recharging their devices. The battery swap-out feature is brilliant, the flavour from the QCAP Pods is mouthwatering and the single button design is very user-friendly.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
- Removable Battery: Being able to swap out the Trine Q’s 1050mAh battery is a fantastic design choice, ensuring that a dead battery doesn’t have to necessitate buying a new vape kit.
