OXVA NeXLIM Review

The XLIM range of pod kits from OXVA has been very mixed, from uber-simple budget pens like the XLIM Go to upgraded devices like the XLIM Pro 2. Each has been well-received by different kinds of vapers, and they’re fast gaining ground on some of the industry’s more long-standing pod kit manufacturers.

OXVA has now released what they believe is the best XLIM device yet: the NeXLIM Pod Kit. Is it an upgrade, a whole new beast, or an embarrassing misfire?

Packaging and Labels 

The OXVA NeXLIM arrives in a cardboard box covered by a black and coloured sleeve. The sleeve has a window that lets you see the device. The device name is at the top of the box’s face, while the OXVA logo is at the bottom.

One side of the sleeve indicates which pods are included, while the other describes the kit, lists its contents, and has contact info for OXVA. The TPD version of the box will doubtless include a prominent health warning.

Sliding off the sleeve, we are confronted by a translucent pullout demonstrating what the button on the kit does. It is handy for reference, so keep ahold of it!

Beneath this sheet, we have the kit with a pod inserted on the left and the spare box on the right, which contains the spare pod and the USB-C cable.

Build Quality

The NeXLIM is superbly well-built. Combining zinc alloy and aluminium results in a sturdy, durable build with a bit of heft at 87.5g. It’s certainly heavier than the other XLIM units, but not uncomfortably.

My sample unit’s matte steel/pleather casing is gorgeous and durable. I loved the XLIM Go, but compared to the NeXLIM, it feels creaky and fragile.

The display screen measures 0.85″ and has full-colour technology and limited animations. All the information is well displayed and isn’t presented confusingly.

The airflow slider was almost perfect. A tiny adjustment would have opened some DTL doors, but ultimately, that isn’t the kit OXVA wanted to make, so no points were lost for producing precisely what they intended to.

The NeXLIM pods are one of the kit’s most exciting aspects. While they are fully compatible with all the other XLIM pods, they contain a new feature: a heating element made from a double-mesh structure.

This results in faster, more even atomisation and far richer flavour than in previous XLIM pods. The pods are securely held in place by magnets within the pod well. They’re strong enough to stay attached while holding the device by just the pod but come out smoothly enough with a light tug.

Performance

The NeXLIM is far more satisfying than any previous XLIM device from OXVA. While the pen has a button on the side, much like the XLIM Pro 2, it isn’t used as a firing button but as a navigation tool.

Instead, the device exclusively fires from draw activation and boasts rapid firing speeds of 0.01s, meaning there’s no delay between the start of your puff and receiving vapour.

The device has a 5-40W output range and two modes of operation: Boost and Eco. Boost mode automatically sets the wattage to the higher end of what the pod’s ohmage can manage, while Eco lowers the power to an optimal level that will last long enough to get you to a charging point.

While the device automatically sets wattage upon receiving a pod, you are free to alter the power out of the recommended ranges if you wish.

Ease of Use

As shown above, the NeXLIM is a more advanced piece of hardware than previous XLIM devices. Luckily, OXVA has worked to ensure that it is easy to use, even for new vapers.

For one thing, the first thing you see upon opening the box is a very digestible and detailed explanation of all the button settings.

You can also be reminded of these by just holding down the button; at this point, the screen will list all available options.

The device automatically sets the wattage to an optimal range upon detecting a coil, which is a great way to ensure that no newcomer accidentally fires a 1.2ohm pod at 40W and scorches their wicks.

Battery Life

The NeXLIM’s battery capacity has increased from previous XLIM models. The XLIM Pro 2 offered a 1200mAh battery, and the NeXLIM increased it to an all-day-friendly 1500mAh.

The Eco mode will also help keep your battery going as long as possible. And if you need to plug it in, 2A-rated charge speeds mean your device can go from entirely depleted to fully charged in approximately 40 minutes.

Flavour Output

Score: 5 out of 5

The NeXLIM’s flavour output is exceptional. I’ve tried fruity, minty, tobacco and dessert flavours, and each has been rich and clear, noticeably tastier than XLIM pods usually manage.

This proves that OXVA’s new NeXLIM pods—a double-mesh heating element for a richer taste and longer coil life—work just as intended.

As usual, you can tighten up the airflow slider for a pure, concentrated beam of flavour.

Summary

Why beat around the bush? I adored using the NeXLIM this week. It’s the best XLIM device and the best OXVA kit I’ve ever used. I have nothing negative to say about it, and frankly, I think the 2025 Vape Of The Year Award just got a very early and very confident contender.
