OXVA OX Passion Nic Salts Review

OXVA have caught widespread attention over the past couple of years thanks to their XLIM SQ Pro and Artio kits. They are now making headlines yet again, not for their kits, but for releasing a nic salt line, the OX Passion Nic Salts.

OXVA specifically made these nic salts for the XLIM range. So, I’m pretty excited to get an early taste of these new e-liquids!

Review Summary: The OX Passion range of nicotine salts reveals an almost bizarrely good understanding of flavour pairings and balances. It immediately distinguishes OXVA as one of the better nicotine salt manufacturers currently operating. A very welcome surprise!

Review Disclosure: OXVA have supplied MIST with one of each of their new OX Passion e-liquids. While we’re grateful, our review is not influenced by OXVA.

Packaging and Labels

Like many bar salts sold today, the OXVA OX Passion nic salts arrive in packaging similar to that of a disposable vape.

The boxes are around 109mm tall, taller than they need to be for the standard 10ml bottles within, but this does spark a sense of excitement, much like when buying a new Elf Bar or SKE Crystal vape.

Visually, the boxes are quite busy. The top of the front has a small warning to keep away from children (a rare but good addition in my opinion) above the embossed holographic OX PASSION logo. To the right is a small picture of the bottle and the nic strength.

Beneath this visual block, you’ll find the flavour and a TPD-compliant monochrome health warning about the nicotine content.

On the left-hand side, there is an authenticity check with a scratch & check hologram near the bottom. There’s also a helpful description of the flavour with a chart measuring ‘throat hit’, ‘coolness’, ‘sweetness’ and ‘flavour strength’, as well as a 50VG / 50PG graphic. On the right-hand side, you’ll find a company slogan above a batch code and a barcode.

On the back of the box, you’ll see helpful health warnings, storage advice and a simplified ingredients list. Below is the contact information for OXVA and another TPD health warning.

I’ve not seen a vape juice box with this much going on visually before, yet somehow it’s all very digestible and easy to read.

Within, the disposable vibes continue upon seeing that the e-liquid bottle is held within a tearable plastic sleeve, with a leaflet also folded up in there with some refill advice.

I don’t make a habit of leaving scores for packaging, but I’ll go ahead and say it’s probably the best box I’ve ever had an e-liquid arrive in, for what it’s worth.

Blue Citrus

Score: 4/5

A lovely jammy blueberry note hit me right away, with a sweeter profile than blueberries are normally given in a vape juice. It’s meant to be a berry lemonade mix, and the lemon has a lovely sherbert-esque edge as though they’ve tried to replicate the ‘fizz’ of a soft drink. And it works well! There’s also a nice touch of cool to get your palate cleansed. We’re off to a good start!

Strawberry Raspberry Cherry

Score: 5/5

A bottle of OX Passion Strawberry Raspberry Cherry on a table

This blew me away! NEVER before have I tasted such a luscious strawberry flavour! Honestly, I’m a little thunder-struck by how intense and juicy that initial hit was. There’s also a gorgeous twist of sweet tartness from a combination of raspberry and cherry, and it’s GREAT to see OXVA leaning into the sour aspects of cherry. First five out of five!

Blue Mist

Score: 3/5

This is a bit of a mysterious one. It advertises itself as a pairing of blueberry and a ‘secret other berry’ as well. Can’t quite put my finger on what it is, but it adds a nice roundness to the blueberry and the ice is also very well-balanced for refreshment. Blue Mist is not my favourite, but there are a lot of blueberry vape fans who’ll love this new take on the classic gentle berry.

Strawberry Melon

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Strawberry Melon on a table

Oooh, there’s that lovely strawberry again, and the melon is ripe and watery in all the right ways. It’s nice to see a melon besides watermelon being used for vape juice – I’m guessing it’s cantaloupe though it could also be honeydew.

Triple Mango

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Triple Mango on a table

‘Triple Mango’ is a name quite a few vape juice makers use to emphasise that this is gonna be a super mango-y juice with no other flavours added, and OXVA’s take is an impressive one. The mango retains a touch of the natural woody and ever-so-slightly ‘creamy’ aspect of that popular fruit, resulting in a really memorable flavour. I’ve got to take a moment just to say that I was NOT familiar with OXVA’s juice game!

Paradise Punch

Score: 3/5

Paradise Punch isn’t up-front about the mysterious collection of flavours used, but from the name and the familiarity of taste I’m going to guess it’s a blend of guava (definitely), kiwi (possibly) and passion fruit (maaaaayybe). A lovely medley, whatever it is, but not super memorable in the way that some have been so far.

Berry Lemon

Score: 3/5

The box promises a pairing of strawberry and watermelon, and maybe it’s just the intensity of the watermelon but I can’t really detect the strawberry flavour beyond a touch of juiciness. The good news is that the ice is exceptionally well-balanced and kind of saved the flavour for me in the long run.

Cherry Fizz

Score: 4/5

Cherry Fizz has a fairly familiar taste, with dark cherries pairing against a sherbert-style fizz aspect that brings a sparkling cherryade to mind. It’s well-frosted, and I’m not sure what exactly they used for the fizz but there’s an almost ‘numbing’ aspect to the flavour, which many will find quite novel and exciting.

Lemon Lime

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Lemon Lime on a table

Oh, now that’s a very nice take on an old classic! It tastes to me like OXVA used lemonade as a base flavour, to which they then added a really zesty note of lime rind. It’s sour enough that there’s an almost botanical note to it, without too much sugar to distract from the searing delight of the sourness.

Pina Daiquiri

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Pina Daiquiri on a table

Pineapple and passion fruit are the name of the game in this unique take on a classic cocktail mix. There’s a perfect level of ice for a flavour that’s trying to replicate a beverage, and the passion fruit does a great job of punching through the sugar wall put up by the pineapple, allowing the tart notes to sing freely.

Blue Sour Razz

Score: 3/5

Blue sour raspberry is of course one of the most popular and beloved vape flavours of our current era, and OXVA’s attempt does a fine job of conveying the combination of sugar and sour. I did note a slightly-too-floral flavour in there which I believe comes from a hint of blueberry, which isn’t quite my thing.

Blue Razz Gummy Bear

Score: 5/5

Oh, THERE we go! Blue Razz Gummy Bear forgoes the blueberry flavour to focus on pure blue raspberry tanginess, with an additional note of gummy candy to give it an extra sugary note. There’s not much to say besides this being a perfect take on blue raspberry vape juice.

Cherry Peach Lemon

Score: 5/5

A bottle of OX Passion Cherry Peach Lemon on a table

Oh wow, now that’s got some complexity to it. The peach is fierce, with a sumptuous note that screams out of the mouthpiece the moment you inhale. The lemon and the cherry provide a playfully sour background rhythm, but I feel this juice definitely lets the peach take centre-stage, and it’s a great choice because that’s an extremely memorable peach flavour!

Blueberry Pom

Score: 2/5

In my opinion, the jammy blueberry notes overwhelm the pomegranate, which is ordinarily quite a sharp and detectable flavour. It’s a shame because pom vapes have only just recently gotten popular and I was keen to sample OXVA’s effort.

Mint Mix

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Mint Mix on a desk

Alright this spun me out a little because I’m not really a mint guy. I like ice, but mint? Not usually. Mint Mix left me questioning that long-standing position because there’s an incredible work of balance taking place within the profile. You can very easily detect both spearmint and peppermint, with some extra ice and sugar thrown in for good measure. Like a freshly unwrapped humbug, you’ve been keeping in the freezer!

Pineapple Freeze

Score: 4/5

Pineapple Freeze delivers a simple sweet pineapple taste with the extra addition of frosty ice, and it’s a great pairup. The pineapple flavour is super sugary with a note of syrup to it, but the ice prevents it from becoming overwhelming and stops sugary tastes from lingering annoyingly on the tongue.

Berries Burst

Score: 3/5

This one is a tasty mixed berry and ice vape juice, but while it does have a nice taste I tend to get frustrated by berry blends that have indistinct flavours, and this sadly tumbles into that pitfall. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a sweet and tasty fruity vape juice, but if you wanted to be able to detect all the different flavours at play you might be disappointed.

Senorita

Score: 4/5

A bottle of OX Passion Senorita on a table

The box of Senorita doesn’t mention the mysterious fruit blend, but I definitely detect a sweet citrus note of oranges and what tastes like the syrupy paradise note of pineapple. Whether I’m right or not, Senorita is a very zesty fruit blend that lingers quite pleasantly on the lip after you’ve exhaled.

Bru Pop

Score: 4/5

Bru Pop has a very noticeable flavour that UK vapers, particularly those from Scotland, might be able to guess, perhaps based on the name alone! Without giving anything away (or printing a trademarked product’s name here), it’s a delightful blend of orange soda and bubblegum notes.

Mixed Grapes

Score: 5/5

A bottle of OX Passion Mixed Grapes on a table

Luscious, sugary, and bursting with flavour, Mixed Grapes gives you exactly what it says on the bottle: the taste of a big punnet of red, black, and green grapes. With a hint of characteristic perfume, it’s a moreish and lingering sweetness that leaves a slight hint of brimming spice on the lip.

Throat Hit

Score: 3-5

The juices won’t cause a significant chest or throat hit due to the use of nicotine salts, which lower the alkalinity of the e-liquid and provide a much smoother draw. However, many of the Ox Passion juices use a substantial amount of ice, which can provide a similar hit to the throat, so for this reason I’m giving the range a middling score for throat hits.

Range

Score: 4-5

Most vape juice ranges tend to lean towards a certain ‘genre’ of flavours rather than make an attempt at pleasing everyone, and Ox Passion is no different.

The general vibe of the range is fruits, with a generous attitude towards ice notes and the occasional candy effort, though always in a fruity format.

And it makes sense; Ox Passion’s packaging makes it clear that OXVA are interested in providing something for those giving up disposables, which tend to carry fruity flavours. It would have been nice to try something with a note of cream or tobacco to it, but hats off to OXVA for understanding where their strengths lie and not spoiling the range with an obviously half-baked dessert juice.

Summary

The OX Passion nic salt range has been a delight to review, and I’m honestly surprised by just how flavoursome they are. Some of the tastes, like the strawberry and lime flavourings used in some blends, are some of the best I’ve ever tasted in a vape juice. And I have to commend OXVA on a really good understanding of ice, and how to add just enough for perfect frost without impacting the fruity flavours.

I think that anyone trying to give up disposable vapes will find it very easy if using OX Passion vape juices.

The MIST Favourite:

Strawberry Raspberry Cherry

This was an immediate favourite. The strawberry flavour is insanely good, and it really leans into the tarter aspects of the other fruits, resulting in a perfect blend of sweet and sour fruit tastes.
