OXVA XLIM Go Review

With simple, user-friendly starter kits like the XLIM SQ Pro and Artio, OXVA has become an industry disruptor, carving out an enviable spot among the vape industry’s older mainstays. And now they are set to continue the XLIM legacy with the release of the XLIM Go.

Today, I’ll examine the XLIM Go to see whether OXVA can retain its position as one of today’s most successful MTL vape kit manufacturers.

Packaging and Labels 

The OXVA XLIM Go is clearly intended as a vape for budget-conscious vapers, based on the packaging alone.

The device arrives in a simple cardboard box with a see-through plastic panel on the front revealing the device, which already has a pod inserted with a sticker on the pod base to prevent electrical connection prior to sale.

Note: The UK edition of the OXVA XLIM Go box will have a TPD-compliant health warning on the front, but my review edition does not. 

The left side of the box lists some kit features, such as a 30W max output, 1000mAh capacity, top-filling pods and a sliding airflow control system. The right side of the box notes which ohmage the included pod is, 0.8ohms in my case.

The back of the box features a short paragraph describing the kit, which is a nice and often overlooked packaging feature! Beneath that, you can see a short contents list, contact information for OXVA, and an authenticity hologram and scratch-off section that you can use to ensure your kit is genuine. It’s frankly essential in an industry with so many fakes flying around.

Inside the box the kit rests securely in a foam cutout, with the folded manual tucked just behind it. The kit, being intended for a price-conscious customer, doesn’t come with a spare pod or a USB-C charging cable, but in 2024 we imagine you’ve got a few of those cables lying around anyway.

Build Quality

One of the first things I noticed about the XLIM Go is how lightweight it is. After checking, I can see it’s only 41g, which is impressively featherweight. This is due to the vape kit’s housing’s construction not using steel or metal; instead, it opts for PCTG and plastic, along with an artificial leather grip panel.

But speaking of the panel, it’s a marvellous choice. Available in several colours, it has an eye-catching diamond groove design and wraps around the entire device, providing a very comfortable grip that is also very sensorily satisfying to fidget with.

The front of the pen has an OXVA logo that lights up when you vape it to indicate how much charge you have left, which I’ve found useful as a little ‘charge me now’ reminder.

The USB-C charging port is on one side of the device, and the airflow adjustment slider is on the other. The slider is quite firm and won’t slip out of position on its own, yet it offers a surprising amount of customisation regarding how large you want your cloud.

There’s also a rubber panel on the base of the unit to prevent scuffs and pen damage when it’s placed upright on a hard surface, which is always a nice touch.

Finally, we come to the 0.8ohm XLIM V3 Pod that comes included with the kit. The V3 sees an update in the form of a raised refill hatch, so you can put new vape juice in your pod without having to remove it from the battery unit – great for when you’re refilling on the go. The pods use two magnets to stay securely in place with no wobble, though they’re easy to remove as well.

Performance

I’ve been using an XLIM Go for a week now, and I don’t have a single bad thing to say about the performance of the device. It’s just a simple kit with easy functionality, no fuss or stress whatsoever.

The kit is entirely draw-activated, meaning there’s no firing button to press. This might be a turn-off for some, but one positive is that it’s simply impossible to accidentally fire your kit while it’s in your pocket, meaning fewer burnt coils and longer-lasting flavour.

There’s honestly little to say about the performance of the OXVA XLIM Go besides praise. Its simple function means that there’s far less that can go wrong, and no aspects of the device are likely to confuse even a brand-new vaper.

Ease of Use

Following the previous section, an absolute beginner can pick up, fill, use, and master an OXVA XLIM Go in mere minutes.

Recent smokers will find the draw-activation a familiar sensation to pulling on a cigarette, and fans of disposable vapes will find the device extremely similar to what they’re used to. Only refilling and recharging are new processes to learn.

While there’s no screen to display battery levels, the coloured LED light on the front is very bright and easy to read. It will let you know you’ve hit the ‘red’ state of battery depletion about an hour or so before the device is unable to fire.

Refilling is also easier than ever, thanks to the upgraded XLIM V3 Pods having a raised rubber hatch on the side of the pod that allows you to refill without needing to remove the pod from the rest of the kit.

Battery Life

Score: 4/5

The XLIM Go only has a 1000mAh battery, however, I found that its relatively low power output resulted in the device lasting through a solid day of vaping without the need for a charge. 

OXVA’s website suggests it can give you two days before running out of battery, but my perspective is based on someone who, like me, is allowed to vape at work all day without having to take breaks.

Admittedly, your battery life will be affected by your frequency of use; however, once the battery is depleted, it tends to charge very quickly.

Flavour Output

Score: 4/5

I’ve found the XLIM V3 Pods to be exceptionally tasty! I’ve primarily been using vanilla tobacco vape juices in mine, and the spiced, sweet flavour has lasted an entire week without a noticeable dip in taste quality, which get a big shiny seal of approval from me.

The kit is also compatible with the V2 pods, and you can choose from a fairly wide selection of ohmages depending on how vapourous you want your inhales to be.

The OXVA XLIM Go is a no-fuss starter kit that new vapers can master in minutes. With a reliable battery, extremely light weight, and easy refills, it won’t cause you any frustrations when switching from smoking or disposables. The pleather panel also makes it an eye-catching conversation piece!
