When OXVA released the XLIM Pro last year, it cemented the brand as one of today’s brightest stars in vape manufacturing. This year, they’ll be releasing the second iteration of the XLIM Pro – the XLIM Pro 2. But is it better?
I’ve had great experiences in the past with OXVA kits like the XLIM SQ Pro, and I’m keen to see whether the XLIM Pro 2 provides an upgraded experience or simply adds a few bells and whistles.
MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: The OXVA XLIM Pro 2 Kit is a marvellous addition to the XLIM family. It gives new and seasoned vapers a noticeably longer-lasting session and adapts to modern design by removing the chance for accidental pocket ignitions by going draw-only.
Review Disclosure: OXVA supplied MIST with the XLIM Pro 2 in exchange for our review. OXVA did not influence any part of our review. We’ve previously reviewed XLIM Go and OX Passion.

Packaging and Labels
My OXVA XLIM Pro 2 arrived in a cardboard box with a black and red cardboard sleeve over the top. The sleeve featured a plastic window to let me look at the Coral Pink device they’d sent me.
The sides of the sleeve listed features such as battery capacity, screen size, and pod compatibility while the back of the sleeve featured the usual contents list and contact information, along with an authenticity hologram sticker.
Presumably, the UK versions of the packaging will feature TPD-compliant health warnings, but mine did not as it was presumably packaged for the Chinese or American market.
Sliding off the sleeve, I was greeted by a little slip of card with a portion cut out to reveal the device, and surprisingly informative button information. It was great to quickly develop a full understanding of the kit’s operation before I’d even picked it up out of the foam it was held in.
Beneath the card rested the aforementioned kit, as well as a parts box next to it, which contained a spare 0.8ohm XLIM V3 cartridge to accompany the 0.6ohm unit already placed in the device. The box also contained a fetching red and threaded USB-C cable and a lanyard necklace with a rubber ring attached.
The instruction manual for the device was placed beneath the kit and parts box.
Build Quality
Score: 4/5
My OXVA XLIM Pro 2 visually resembles previous units in the XLIM range yet has a generally more modern look and feel. The Coral Pink unit sent to me has a very comfortable rubbery coating over the battery, which both assists my grip and has a comforting grain under the fingers—great for a fidgeter like me.
The USB-C port is on the base of the device, a return to tradition after some side-port escapades with devices like the XLIM Go kit, while the sides feature an airflow slider and a button. Not that I did not say firing button. We’ll get to that!
The device’s ‘face’ has a 0.56” colour display screen with rounded edges. It shows all the necessary info, such as the wattage setting, battery health, pod ohmage, and puff count.
The XLIM V3 cartridges are once again held in place with magnets and feature a raised refilling port, which permits refills without having to remove the pod from the battery—always nice for vaping on the move.
The kit is also very lightweight at just 67g, which is likely due to the primary construction material being a thin zinc alloy. This makes the device very applicable to the lanyard it comes with.
Performance
Score: 5/5
In terms of performance, the XLIM Pro 2 does an even finer job than the other recent XLIM devices due to the care taken in designing it to be totally beginner-friendly (We’ll touch on some of those elements more in the Ease of Use section).
The kit can fire anywhere between 5-30W, much like the XLIM SQ Pro, but an interesting change to the design is that the firing functionality is removed from the button.
Now this may seem unorthodox, but in my experience, 9 out of 10 vapers who use a device with optional draw-activation never bother using the button to fire the device.
This frees the button up for wattage adjustment, display changes, powering on and off, and other features.
In terms of auto-draw, OXVA claims that upon detecting airflow, the device will ignite the atomisation process within 0.01s, which, in my time using the kit, I found to be very believable. There’s just no noticeable delay between puffing and vaping, making it immediately satisfying to use.
Ease of Use
Score: 5/5
When it comes to ease and approachability, I really have to commend the work OXVA has put into the XLIM Pro 2.
I’ll admit. I know my way around a vape kit (after all, I’ve been vaping for over ten years!). But I have zero doubt that a total beginner who’d never vaped before could pick up the XLIM Pro 2 and master it in seconds.
The choice to remove the button firing is an inspired one, in my opinion, suited to today’s vapers. People are more comfortable with auto-draw use these days, particularly with disposable vapes acting as most casual vapers’ point of reference.
The button is now used solely to do things like change wattage, clear puff count, etc. But a really good feature is that holding down the button will bring up a quick and very detailed slideshow explaining what every button-press combination actually does.
It’s a degree of assistance you rarely see in a starter kit, and achieves a balance of being instructional yet never condescending.
Battery Life
Score: 5/5
The OXVA XLIM Pro 2 contains a stonking 1300mAh battery, which is 300mAh more than the original XLIM Pro vape kit. That extra-third of capacity really comes in useful, particularly when you’re a fan of using the kit at high power output levels like the 30W maximum.
I’m in the enviable position of being able to vape at my desk all day long, and with a full charge in the morning, I didn’t run into any power issues despite chain vaping all day long. That’s enough to tell me that the XLIM Pro 2’s battery is built for longevity.
Add to that a 2A charge speed rating and you’ve got a battery that isn’t just long-lasting but also fast-charging. I found that a completely depleted battery could get back to almost full charge in less than a half hour, so the kit will never be out of service for long.
Flavour Output
Score: 4.5/5
I’m already very familiar with the flavour generated by the XLIM V3 Pods that the XLIM Pro 2 uses and it’s as rich and satisfying as I remember it.
Generally speaking, you won’t notice any dip in flavour intensity until after about two weeks, and the pods can usually last another couple of weeks before needing to be disposed of.
I’m only shaving half point because as convenient and easy-to-fill as the XLIM Pods are, they don’t do anything particularly special to promote memorable flavour, they just work very well and don’t impart impurities onto your vape juice.
Summary
The OXVA XLIM Pro 2 Kit is a marvellous addition to the XLIM family. It gives new and seasoned vapers a noticeably longer-lasting session and adapts to modern design by removing the chance for accidental pocket ignitions by going draw-only.
The decision to include a walkthrough tutorial, accessed by holding down the power button, is inspired and is going to make the XLIM Pro 2 even better for new vapers than any OXVA kit that’s come before.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
- Tutorial: I’m seriously impressed by the inclusion of an easily accessed tutorial slideshow, as it represents a design ethos that really takes the needs and comfort of new vapers into account. That’s the kind of thoughtfulness that marks a great vape manufacturer.
