Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano Review

I was lucky enough to get an early look at the Vaporesso XROS 4 Kit. If you read my thoughts on it (if you haven’t, you can read my review here), you’ll recall that I was pleased with the advanced power selection and great flavour it produced, but felt the 1000mAh battery was a bit of a letdown.

Well, as is often the case with XROS releases, the XROS 4 is now being swiftly followed by the release of the XROS 4 Nano Kit, and once again, I’m going to roll up my sleeves and spend the week getting a feel for this new pod kit to see whether it improves upon previous XROS design aspects, or if it’s just a smaller rebranding of the same functions.

Review Summary: Well, I was ready for the XROS 4 Nano to just be a travel-friendly version of the XROS 4; I certainly didn’t expect it to improve upon almost every aspect of the XROS 4!

Review Disclosure: Vaporesso provided the XROS 4 Nano Kit. As you’ll know from my previous XROS review, I don’t hold back on negative comments, and all my thoughts and opinions are based solely on my own experience as a vaper.

Packaging and Labels

The Vaporesso XROS 4 Nano’s packaging resembles that of other recent Vaporesso releases; a black and green cardboard box with a picture of the kit on the front between the company logo and device name.

The sides of the box list features such as battery size and coil quality as well as an authenticity hologram and a preview of the optional ‘themes’ you can select through the device’s UI. The back of the box shows the contents list as well as contact information for Vaporesso.

Inside, the XROS 4 Nano has a more minimal style of packaging than most other vapes. The kit itself is loose in the box, though wrapped in a protective plastic film and held firmly in place by the user manual, charging cable, and spare pod.

Build Quality

Score: 5 out of 5

The XROS 4 Nano is exceptionally well made. It has a relatively tiny build of 55mm x 20.9mm x 56.6mm — it’s a little square slab that sits very comfortably in the palm! It also weighs only 90g.

The brushed metal surface is smooth under the fingers and provides decent grip, with a firing button and charge port on one side and the airflow-slider on the other. The lanyard attaches easily through a little metal bridge on the top of the device.

The TFT screen is big, bright, and beautiful, measuring 1.3” and displaying in full colour.

The XROS Pods make a welcome return, retaining their easy top-filling method with a snap-off mouthpiece. There’s a new pod as well, which works slightly differently.

I’ve not got a bad word to say about the build quality of the XROS 4 Nano. It’s small, discreet, and comfortable; what else could you need?

Performance

Score: 4.5 out of 5

The XROS 4 Nano is a delight to use; it showcases an excellent suite of functions. The device effectively has two different modes of use; when using a 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm, 1.0ohm, or 1.2ohm pod, you can choose between three modes: Normal, Power, and Eco, which you can read as Medium, High, and Low, respectively.

If, however, you use a pod with a resistance of 0.4ohms, you instead get to choose any wattage output between 5W – 30W, going up in increments of 0.5W. This can be done by tapping the button three times.

Tapping the firing button two times takes you to a menu, where you can erase the puff counter, turn off power-draining lights and also change the visual theme on the screen, with three designs to pick between.

The optional draw-activation is very quick and responsive, making it an attractive choice for those who are familiar with disposable vape kits.

The XROS 4 Nano does a great job when performing and is capable of both MTL and RDL power outputs.

Ease of Use

Score: 4.5 out of 5

I would describe the XROS 4 Nano as very easy to use, though not without one or two pitfalls that new vapers might not be aware of.

The device has simple functions out of the box, and the Normal-Power-Eco selection of power outputs will be easy for new vapers to understand, even if they’re unfamiliar with wattages.

However, any kit with a menu runs the risk of being confusing to a newcomer, and there will likely be a few vapers who get frustrated when trying to change their power settings but only end up switching between the Motorbike and Flower screen themes.

This is the kind of mistake every new vaper has to make at some point, however, and it’s not going to damage your device or pod in any way, so I’m happy to award the XROS 4 Nano a 4.5 out of 5 for ease of use.

Battery Life

Score: 5 out of 5

Now THIS is something I was looking forward to talking about! As I mentioned in my XROS 4 Kit review, I was a bit let down by the 1000mAh battery. Well, I guess the heavens were listening because the XROS 4 Nano somehow manages to fit a 1350mAh battery inside!

For those following the range, that’s the largest battery ever featured in an XROS Kit. If kept at reasonable outputs, you can squeeze 4 days of use out of this little beast.

Even better, the 2A-rated charge speed means it’s back on its feet at 80% in just 20 minutes, and the optional Eco mode is great for stretching out your power supply, as is the ability to switch off light features.

All of this comes together to earn the XROS 4 Nano a solid 5 out of 5 for battery life. Other vape manufacturers: take note here because Vaporesso is showing you all up.

Flavour Output

Score: 4 out of 5

The flavour produced by the XROS Pods is rich and intense, assisted by the COREX 2.0 design that Vaporesso have recently adopted. This provides their pods with larger coil meshes and better quality wicking materials, resulting in a flavour profile that stays pure for longer.

The kit itself doesn’t have any flavour-promoting modes, though you can increase the intensity of taste somewhat by mostly closing the airflow slider.

Summary

Well, I was ready for the XROS 4 Nano to just be a travel-friendly version of the XROS 4; I certainly didn’t expect it to improve upon almost every aspect of the previous device! I think that both experienced and new vapers will love this kit, for both its simple functionality and its customisation features, making it feel more intimately linked to your vaping journey.

The MIST Favourite Feature:

Bigger Battery: 1350mAh is plenty to be getting on with and will likely give you days of vaping joy. And let’s not forget the battery-saving features like Eco mode and turning the kit’s light features down!
