The Argus G2 Mini is the “simpler” version of the Argus G2. As expected, the device is stripped of some features (like the coloured screen of the G2). But, what’s surprising is that Voopoo did not made the G2 Mini a less capable device than its bigger, more advanced brother.
Instead, you get a simple, reliable kit that has a surprisingly large battery capacity (larger than the G2, in fact), an adjustable airflow control, and the same flavourful coils as the G2! Let’s not forget that the G2 Mini has a cheaper price tag, too!
With that out of the way, here’s our in-depth review of the Voopoo Argus G2 Mini.
MIST’s Verdict
Review Summary: The Voopoo Argus G2 Mini Pod Kit is a superb piece of gear with excellent no-fuss MTL and RDL functionality. It might lack some of the bells and whistles of the G2 original, but honestly, after using the G2 Mini I found that at times I preferred a simpler vape kit that doesn’t have any menus or modes that new users might find confusing.

Packaging and Labels
The Voopoo Argus G2 Mini comes in a small box, without the removable sleeve you ordinarily see on a Voopoo kit.
The front of the box features a picture of the device, and while I assume UK units will feature a TPC-compliant health warning my sample device does not.
The sides of the box feature the name of the device and a few features such as battery capacity, power output, airflow settings, and Voopoo’s Icosm Code of coil manufacturing.
The back of the box features a contents list and contact information for Voopoo.
Inside, the kit is sealed in a tearable plastic wrapping, very similar to a disposable vape kit. The box also contains a user manual and a card with some useful tips covering pod vape maintenance.
The kit doesn’t come with a charging cable or a spare pod. The 0.7ohm pod is already inserted into the device, and a sticker on the base prevents an electrical connection.
Build Quality
Score: 3/5
The Argus G2 Mini is a budget kit. The steel casing is made from an aluminium-alloy, which doesn’t feel quite as tough and durable as the zinc alloy used for the original G2.
On the plus side, the device definitely feels lighter in weight, which is surprising as the kit paradoxically has a larger battery than the original G2. Perhaps this is a watershed moment in vape design, where manufacturers don’t consider the cheaper kit the ‘lesser’ version anymore. If so, applaud to Voopoo for setting such an admirable standard.
The pen is mostly featureless. You only get a small power indication LED at the base and an airflow slider on one of the faces of the device.
There is a bright light-up section on the bottom of the pen that glows when you inhale, similar to a disposable vape. However, if you prefer to turn it off, it’s just three quick puffs in less than two seconds to switch it on and off.
The pods are the same as those used in the G2, and they’re definitely an improvement over the previous Argus pods. With the new pods, there is an increase in airflow, less likelihood of leaks, and a raised refill port that allows you to add new juice without needing to remove the pod from the battery.
Ultimately, the G2 Mini’s build isn’t particularly impressive, but that shouldn’t be taken to mean it’s of poor quality.
Performance
Score: 4.5/5
The G2 Mini does a simple job, and it does it very well.
The kit is buttonless and draw-activated, which means there is very little pause between the start of inhalation and the arrival of atomised e-liquid in your mouth. There’s even a noticeable electrical ‘hum’ during atomisation, which is quite comforting to hear.
The airflow slider is a bit small but it provides a lot of customisation regarding cloud size. While that might sound a bit superfluous for an MTL kit, the G2 Mini has a max output of 30W. You just can’t set it yourself, as the kit is effectively locked on ‘Smart mode’ and will always assign a wattage that’s appropriate for the pod you’re using.
Ease of Use
Score: 5/5
I say right now that you could give this kit to a 40-a-day smoker with no instructions and they’d be vaping like a pro within a few minutes. It’s a kind of silver-living to stripped-down vape kit; with fewer features and functions to adjust, there’s just much less that can go wrong.
All you need to do is keep it filled, keep it charged, and buy new pods every few weeks. No fuss satisfaction.
Battery Life
Score: 5/5
Now, this was an unexpected pleasure. Against all expectations, the Argus G2 Mini actually has a LARGER battery than the original G2, with 1200mAh compared to the other device’s 1000mAh.
And it’s likely to last you a while too because it doesn’t have the colourful screen and LED system of the original device. The rate of your pen battery depletion is pretty much entirely down to your use rate coupled with your choice of pods, as lower resistance pods will cause the G2 Mini to use a higher rate of wattage.
Flavour Output
Score: 4.5/5
The flavour output from the G2 Mini is excellent, if not particularly exceptional.
As previously mentioned, the pods have seen some improvements, one of which is the new Icosm Code that Voopoo uses in coil design. This code adds a silver ion coating to the coils that prevent the development of bacteria that can impact the flavour of your e-liquid.
Voopoo state that their new Argus pods can withstand 90ml of e-liquid before leaks become an issue, which is a lot of flavour potential before you need to replace the pod.
Summary
The Voopoo Argus G2 Mini Pod Kit is a superb piece of gear with excellent no-fuss MTL and RDL functionality. It might lack some of the bells and whistles of the G2 original, but honestly, after using the G2 Mini I found that at times I preferred a simpler vape kit that doesn’t have any menus or modes that new users might find confusing.
I’d confidently call the Argus G2 Mini one of the best starter kits currently available in vaping.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
- 1200mAh Battery: I was seriously impressed to see the G2 Mini housing a larger battery cell than the original device, and I found that the lack of a display screen or other power-intensive features stretched my charge out even further.
