Earlier this year, Voopoo unveiled the second iteration of the Argus G, the Argus G2. They claim that the new version continues the legacy of the original Argus G (known for its smooth and flavourful puffs,) but with significant improvements in the design, performance features, and build quality.
Today, I’m going to take a closer look at this new Voopoo pod kit and see whether it’s worthy of continuing the Argus G legacy.

Packaging and Labels
Like all recently launched Voopoo vapes, the Argus G2 comes in a cardboard box fitted into a cardboard sleeve. The front of the sleeve shows the device above a TPD-compliant nicotine health warning. One side of the sleeve simply shows another picture of the kit, and the other lists a few features such as power outputs and battery capacity.
The back of the sleeve features a detailed contents list, along with health warnings and contact information for the manufacturer.
Removing the sleeve reveals a small white cardboard box containing the spare 0.7ohm Argus Pod, charging cable, user manual, and lanyard cable.
Beneath the small box, the kit itself rests in a plastic cutout which prevents the device from rattling around in transit, with the 0.4ohm pod sitting in the device with a sticker on the base to prevent electrical connection.
Build Quality
Score: 4/5
The Argus G2 has a comforting heft in the palm, though I’m a bit surprised by the 84.5g weight and wonder what’s causing it. It’s unlikely to be the battery, which only has a 1000mAh capacity, nor is it likely to be the usually-lightweight zinc-alloy construction material.
Zinc-alloy is a great material to build the kit from, however, as it’s surprisingly durable for such an ordinarily lightweight metal. I like the build of the Argus G2, and I’m only knocking a point off for the combination of unusual weightiness and a lack of ingress protection rating such as IP67 or IP68.
Performance
Score: 5/5
I found the Argus G2 to be a surprisingly advanced kit when I wanted it to be. It’s unusual to get three operational modes in a simple pod vape kit, but they each have a distinct feel and you’ll find yourself switching between the modes when the situation calls for it.
The two menus are remarkably well-displayed. I particularly liked the little ‘loading bar’ that fills up when selecting a mode, it gave me a sense of responsiveness that I’ve not encountered in any vape kit before.
The rumble feature, which provides haptic feedback whenever the device encounters a power or pod issue, is surprisingly useful. It calls your attention to your vape at moments when you are likely not looking at it.
This increased maintenance prompting rate will drastically cut down on pod burnout issues, ultimately resulting in greater savings when you don’t need to buy new pods so often.
The brightly-coloured LED lights bordering the display screen are basically pointless, but pretty to look at and very easy to switch off if they aren’t to your taste.
The kit also has a very responsive draw-activation speed as well, instantly filling your mouth with vapour the moment you breathe in. However, if you prefer a more analogue style of control, the firing button on the side works just as well and can be locked off through the menus to prevent pocket-firing.
Ease of Use
Score: 5/5
The Argus G2 may have a surprising number of modes and features, but it’s ultimately a device built for convenient use. The default mode is Smart, which takes wattage concerns off your hands. Plus, the raised refill port in the Argus Pods almost makes it easy to refill without removing the pod from the battery unit.
I’m confident in saying that an absolute beginner who has never vaped before would be able to pick up and use an Argus G2 immediately, and the extra features make it equally attractive to more seasoned vapers.
Battery Life
Score: 4/5
I’m just gonna say right now that 1000mAh is a little disappointing for a device that can ostensibly go as high as 30W. If you’re putting the Argus G2 through those kinds of outputs frequently, you’re going to run into depleted cells quite a bit.
The saving grace is the 2A-rated charging speeds. While writing this, I noticed my Argus G2 had a battery of 02%, but after plugging it in for about 15 minutes, I was at a far more comfortable 65%.
So I can forgive a bit of a paltry capacity when it’s able to get back up and running again that quickly.
Eco mode is also great for this, using less power and extending the battery life considerably, which is very useful if you’re in a situation where vaping is allowed by charging isn’t possible.
Flavour Output
Score: 4/5
I found the Argus G2’s flavour to be rich and vibrant. A lot of that comes down to the iCosm Code Voopoo has adopted, which mandates great flavour from their pods and coils. Silver ion coats each coil, providing an anti-bacterial surface. This results in vape juice which is never impacted by flavour impurities.
Multiple air-inlets on the pods increase airflow and flavour carrying, which you can also adjust yourself with the sliding airflow control feature on the device battery.
Summary
The Voopoo Argus G2 was a delight to use. It provides no-fuss flavour and a variety of customisation options for those who want more control over their vape kit. The weight and battery capacity were small issues for me, but the overall performance of the kit outweighs any negative feelings about the small aspects of the device.
The MIST Favourite Feature:
Fast Charging: I was seriously impressed by just how quickly my depleted battery was back to over half charge, ultimately resolving any issues I had with the 1000mAh capacity limit.
