Voopoo’s Doric line of pod kits is built so simply that an absolute beginner can pick one up and master it in seconds. Today, I’m going to thoroughly examine one of the latest releases in the range – the Doric E. I’ll meticulously go over its design, features, and performance to see if it lives up to the Doric legacy and if it’s a range you can confidently recommend to a beginner.

Packaging and Labels
Doric E’s packaging is a cardboard box with a transparent plastic window on the front, revealing the battery unit. The front of the box states the device’s name and would usually have a TPD-compliant health warning printed; however, my review edition does not.
One side of the box has an illustration of the kit with an authenticity hologram and barcode printed beneath. The other side lists the kit’s features such as battery capacity, airflow settings, power adjustment and the pod/coil platform.
The back of the box features a contents list, health warnings, and contact information for Voopoo. My edition also features a ‘Sample’ sticker.
Inside the box, a snug plastic frame holds the battery unit. The empty ITO Pod, 0.7ohm ITO Coil, charging cable, and user manual are placed behind the frame, held in the hollow sections of the plastic.
Build Quality
Score: 5/5
We’ll go over the technicalities of the build in just a moment, but the first thing I want to emphasise is just how comfortable the Doric E is to hold. At 105.72mm (H) by 28.14mm (W), the device’s scale feels perfect—just tall enough not to go missing but not so tall as to be an imposition when traveling.
A faux leather panel wraps around the device, covering everything except the airflow slider, dual air inlets, and front panel. It’s got a soft and squeezable feel that’s very comfortable to grip, and I personally get a lot of sensory fidgeting satisfaction from rubbing the embossed DORIC logo on the rounded back of the device with my thumb.
The kit’s base features a rubber anti-slide disc that also prevents hard surfaces from getting scuffed when the unit is placed down. The USB-C charging port is placed next to this rubber disc.
I personally like to charge a device standing upright, which the Doric E won’t allow, but that’s a very small issue that most won’t care about.
The kit is very lightweight. Most of the device is constructed of zinc alloy, which balances a low carrying weight with surprising durability. It’s not likely to survive a long tumble down concrete steps, but there’s no creakiness to the build at all.
Unlike many pod kits, the Doric E doesn’t use magnets to hold the ITO Pod in place. Instead, it opts for a satisfying ‘click into place’ design that holds the pod securely while still making it easy to remove for pod and coil changes or refilling.
The ITO Pod is one of my favourite aspects of the kit, a tall and round acrylic pod you can see into every part of, with a long, slim mouthpiece with a tiny rim at the top which is quite satisfying to grip in your teeth.
The long mouthpiece really helps simulate a cigarette draw, far more so than the ‘lozenge’ style pods used by Voopoo Argus Pods.
While the kit comes with an empty pod and a coil you can change in the future, users who prefer less messy convenience can opt for disposable ITO Pods with pre-installed coils.
Performance
Score: 5/5
The Doric E is frankly a dream to use. It has an optional firing button you can press to begin the vaping process, but it also has very quick and responsive draw activation if you prefer to puff rather than press.
The firing button also activates and deactivates the kit with five rapid taps and allows you to switch between three power outputs by tapping the button three times. The kit states a maximum power output of 25W, and I assume the GENE.AI Chip within—a standard feature in Voopoo pod kits—regulates the amount of power granted to coils of varying resistance.
The airflow slider on the back of the kit allows for some airflow, with two air inlets on either side of the kit.
When fully opened and the kit is set to high power output, the door opens to authentic restricted-direct-lung use, which is very pleasant on days when you need a bit more punch from your puff.
I simply do not have anything bad to say about the Doric E’s performance. It’s one of the most satisfying, no-fuss MTL pod kits I’ve ever used!
Ease of Use
Score: 5/5
One of the key design elements of the Doric range is approachability; Doric devices can be easily mastered in no time by a smoker with no vaping experience. The Doric E is no exception to this legacy for user-friendly design.
Recent disposable users will find the draw-activation very familiar, while those who’ve only just given up smoking cigarettes will find the mouthpiece nostalgic on the lip.
Voopoo clearly understands that nicotine dependence is only one aspect of a cigarette habit, so anything that can accurately simulate the experience is going to be a boon to anyone trying to stay off the smoker’s path.
Battery Life
Score: 4/5
The Doric E contains a 1500mAh battery, which is generally ample for a long day of use. I spent a weekend with this kit to get a real feel for it and found that a full battery on Saturday morning was still going by Sunday night. Admittedly, this was using the kit at its lowest power setting, but most vapers are likely to keep it in that range if looking for something similar to smoking.
The battery can also charge from empty to full in just one hour, so as long as you aren’t in the middle of nowhere, you’ll likely have your depleted kit back to full health in no time at all.
Flavour Output
Score: 4/5
I’ve been using a popular vanilla tobacco nic salt in the device and have really enjoyed the flavour emitted by the 0.7ohm ITO Coil within. The ITO Coils feature vertical mesh heating elements within, which are becoming a common stable in coil designs.
This results in rapid and equal heat distribution, meaning your vapour is generated quickly, and the coil’s wicking materials are far less likely to suffer from burns. This increases the longevity of the coil’s flavour-carrying potential.
Summary
I’m frankly gushing over the Voopoo Doric E Pod Kit. It’s a masterclass in thoughtful, streamlined design that both total beginners and seasoned MTL vapers will find enjoyable to use for months on end, with rapid charging and pod options to suit your personal vaping style.
The MIST Favourite:
Cigarette Simulation
The combination of the portable size, responsive draw-activation, and the long, thin mouthpiece makes this vape kit really satisfy old itches.
