TPD Regulations

What is the TPD?

The Tobacco Product Directive is an EU directive that tells all member states of the European Union how to control Tobacco, this includes the manufacturing, advertising and selling of e cigarettes. This directive was passed into UK law on the 20th May 2016. Despite the fact that e cigarettes do not contain tobacco. A report from the Royal College of Physicians concluded that 'e cigarettes are likely to be beneficial to UK public health. Smokers can therefore be reassured and encouraged to use them, and the public can be reassured that e cigarettes are much safer than smoking.'

Although the TPD was passed into UK law on the 20th May 2016, there was a 12 month transition period for retailers.

What are we doing?

Everything you find at Mist has gone through rigorous testing and quality control procedures. All of our eliquids are put through appropriate measures and are critically analysed in laboratories here in the UK, EU and overseas. Boasting a wealth of knowledge and experience, our laboratories have been working with us to ensure all of our products are of an exceptionally high standard.

What products will we be stocking after the 20th May 2017?

  • MIST will be stocking a full range of 35 TPD Compliant flavours in both PG (standard mix) and VG (extra vapour).
  • The "Standard Vapour" mix will be stocked in 0mg, 6mg, 12mg, and 18mg nicotine strengths.
  • The "Extra Vapour" mix will be stocked in 0mg, 3mg (NEW), 6mg, 12mg, and 18mg nicotine strengths .
  • MIST will continue to sell our standard 10ml bottle size, plus a 30ml bundle (3x10ml) and a 100ml bundle (10x10ml).
  • MIST will also be stocking 6 brand new flavours, which are going to launch on the 20th May!

What products will we be leaving after the 20th May 2017?

Although we have tried to make the transition through the TPD as seamless and easy as possible we did have to take the tough decision to remove a small number of flavours from our range. The following flavours and strengths will no longer be available after May 20th 2017, so we suggest you stock up:

  • Butterscotch
  • Coconut
  • French Pipe Tobacco
  • Flue Cured Tobacco
  • Lemonade
  • Hotel
  • Pear
  • Toffee Apple
  • ALL 24mg, and 36mg E-Liquids

How will the TPD affect my tanks?

Part of the TPD states we will no-longer be-able to supply tanks/clearomizers with a capacity greater than 2ml. After the 20th May MIST will no longer be stocking any tank with an e-liquid capacity over 2ml. However, many manufacturers will be releasing smaller versions of your favourite tanks!

Will I still be able to purchase coils for my old tank?

In short, yes! The replaceable coils do not fall under TPD regulations, allowing us the continued sale of these items.

Key Dates:

Until 20th November 2016

All of our eliquids and products are available as usual.
Sales to other EU Countries are prohibited without necessary registrations.
Non-compliant stock can still be manufactured, brought and sold.

20th November 2016 - 19th May 2017

During this period at MIST, we will need to sell all our
non-compliant products. Such as 30ml and 100ml eliquids, any eliquids with a nicotine
strength over 20mg and any tanks with a capacity over 2ml.

20th May 2017

We can no longer sell any non-compliant product. Only products tested and MHRA
notified (at least six months previously) can be sold. Rest assured, MIST have been working hard to make sure your shopping experience will change as little as possible. As a result we will still be selling 10ml, 30ml (3x10ml), and 100ml (10x10ml) quantities and we do not anticipate any price increases. These will come in 35 flavours in both PG (Standard mix) and VG (Extra Vapour mix)
